Tried ordering items online, every item said ‘In Stock' for shipping to home. 11 items. I go through payment/review and get to complete purchase, only to have a red box pop up thst says one or more items may be out of stock or not have the amount you're wanting. Doesn't tell you which item. So I'm to guess? Go through all 11 adding or deleting to find it? When they ALL say IN STOCK?! NO THANK YOU! Ridiculous. Asked a chat/help and the reason is the online ordering is not ‘real-time'. So then tell me how it's convenient for anyone, ever? DONE
Three CEOS within a three month time frame really makes sense now. The handling of online orders, returns, replacements, orders, and customer service (everything!) has been ridiculous. I have wasted over 5 hours of my life waiting to speak to someone about damaged frames. When I finally think it is resolved, Michaels decides to cancel the replacements with no explanation. This is ridiculous! Incredibly frustrated and will never do business with Michaels again.

I visit Michaels at least once a week. Since covid, stores have been scarce on some supplies but that’s understandable. But overall I always have a good experience. Sometimes the older cashiers have a hard time tho, that’s the only recurring thing I’ve noticed .
Susan N at the till was so sweet and Kim who greeted me was a doll as well. Love the team at Michael’s Uptown!
I really love Michael's but now they are having a sweepstakes that really sucks. I tried to play the game today and was given a scratch game that didn't work. I couldn't scratch it. When I went to try on my regular computer, not handheld, it told me I have exceeded my gameplay for the day. That sucked.
This is not an exaggeration. Every time I shop here I check my receipt in the car and see that I was overcharged. I either had a clearance item not charged as clearance or the shelf pricing is different than the receipt. It never fails. I have to walk back in go to the aisle to make sure I saw the price correctly then go to the register, walk with the sales person over to the same aisle to show them to price tag, go back to register, call a manager, and 10 minutes later I'm back in my car going what the heck just happened! The only saving grace with this store is their new rewards program which helps with their high pricing if you don't catch a sale. The rewards can add up but you have only a small window to go back and use them up or they expire.
I have recently placed several large online orders with Michaels and most of it has gone well. However, there are a few unacceptable issues I have had with them.
Their website is very slow and does crazy things at times - it has gone to other pages than the ones I have clicked on quite a few times and on 2 occasions has emptied my shopping basket for no reason after I'd spent all day shopping and choosing items, even though on an order several days before the contents of the shopping basket had remained there for days until I was ready to make my purchases.
I had to ask for my senior discount afterwards on most orders because it wasn't applied. I did this on live chat, which is not open 24/7 like some people leaving reviews here seem to think it should be, but even though a message appeared each time saying that there might be a long wait, every time there was no wait. I had resistance/refusal from some of the first chat people to give me my senior discount, but they either elevated my request to a higher support person on their own or did so immediately when I asked them to. The higher support person applied my senior discount without any argument.
The orders have been sent quickly but in dribs and drabs from what looks like they are coming, in large part at least, from different Michaels stores. I've had just one strand of beads sent by itself more than once. That doesn't bother me but what does is the irresponsibility/lack of care of certain staff in sending me obviously damaged goods. I ordered some packs of metal charms with words on them which arrived with one missing off the card they were attached to, another pack with discolouration/tarnishing? On at least one and deep scratches on others, and other packs/cards of charms with scratches and/or blemishes on the metal. When I wrote a review of what happened with the worst of these charms on Michaels website it was rejected with the reason shipping/fulfilment given. That is a big part of the problem. I resubmitted it and removed the part where I said I wouldn't have bought them if I'd seen them in person and if I worked for Michaels I wouldn't have sent them to a customer and the review still hasn't been published. I don't like the suppression of the truth about how some of the orders are handled in this way. I also received a broken strand of beads. They were all there, but I would still prefer them to be strung like they are supposed to be and attached to the card for storage until I'm ready to use them instead of rolling around loose. It's not very professional and these issues look like they want to fob off customers with damaged goods they wouldn't buy if they saw them in person. I now have the inconvenience of returning the metal charms, and instead of using usps, which will collect parcels from my house, they expect me to take the items to either a Michaels store or ups, neither of which are near me, when it has been their 'mistake'. This issue with being deliberately sent damaged goods which I now have the inconvenience of returning and the suppression of my review about it is what has brought my rating down to a 3 star from a 4.
I added a few items to one of my online orders as a store pickup because for some weird reason one of the items is only available in stores, even though the same product in other colours is sold online. I could see that I wasn't going to be able to get to their store, went on live chat to cancel that part of the order, and I was given an immediate refund. I have paid for everything with paypal.
I have bought mostly beads for 60% off their marked prices and have been happy with the beauty and quality of most of them and also with how quickly I have received the orders.
This goes for beads and especially charms and probably anything else, really, but make sure you check everything either before you buy it or when you receive it if you've bought it online. Since writing this review yesterday I have received another part of my order. There were supposed to be 12 different charms on chain attached to the card/tag. Of the 7 sets I received of the same item only 4 were correct and complete. Two sets were missing a charm entirely so only had 11 each, and this was obvious, there was an empty space on the chain where they should have been, and the other set had 12 charms but one was a duplicate so one of the charms was missing from the set.
While I find this store to be lacking in some items, the friendliness of one employee in particular makes it okay, Javier is a super friendly and extremely helpful young man and is truly an asset to your company (Northgate shopping center store # 8812)
My granddaughter's eye was damaged FOR LIFE by a toy sold at Micheals! Do they take responsibility? No no... they continue to sell toys from China! My daughter was banned from this store because she complained about her daughter's injury!
I brought three prints to Michaels to be matted and framed. There was a sale for 60% off selected frames. With the associates help, I selected one of those frames. We discussed matting and she suggested a reverse in color from what I had chosen. Seeing as she was the expert, I went with her advice. When she began ringing up the sale, I reminded her of the 60% off. When everything was calculated, it was over $800. These prints were 5X5 inches. I asked her if she included the discount and she asked, Oh, did
You want that? It then came down to about $300. She recommended their hanging system and said it was very easy to use. Thirty dollars for each print. I agreed.
A week later, I hadn’t heard from
Them. I called and was told that while installing the hanging system on one of the frames, the frame cracked. Took another week to finally get them. When they were taken out of the wrap, I was struck by how
grotesque they were. These were prints of a heart, a rib cage and a lower spine wrapped in roses. The frame was black, her suggestion. I had asked for white to be the predominant matting color. She suggested red. What it ended up looking like was something that belonged in a brothel. She said she could reverse it but I would have to wait. I took them home. The hanging system came with a
Set of supplies to attach to
The frame. Out of three, only one set was complete One was missing items. The other was missing all together. I was able to hang them as I would without the $90 spent on their hanging system. Finally got them up and I notice all the glass is smudged. From the inside while framing. I am so disgusted with Michaels for
Their absolute lack of quality in every aspect of the framing. Will
Never use them again.
Austin provided a solution to our picture framing problem. She was knowledgeable, extremely profession and friendly. Thank you
I shop at store #9709. Serena was very friendly and made sure to greet everyone who walked in. The store is always clean and organized. Thank you
Free shipping over $59 is lies. My order came to $107 the total including 7.95 shipping. I called they said I had two value packs total $21.90. What about my other $78 that's over $59 they would not return. And rude customer service. Hobby lobby. Blick will be getting my business for now on.
Do not do curbside pickup. If you do, check your orders because if not it's a total waste of time. I ordered five shirts to tie dye and of course I get home and they gave the wrong sizes. So I called them to see if they could just exchange the size out to my car real quick because I have three kids which is why I did curbside and the first place and they couldn't help me. They said I had to come in. This was at the one in Commerce, MI.

I've found the prices at Michael's to be about the same as Joann's Fabrics, depending on what you get and how big of a selection you're looking for.
Joann's obviously has a larger fabric selection, but the rest is about the same based on the stores in my city. Michael's has some very unique jewelry supplies, if you like to make jewelry.
If I just need something pretty basic (paint, brushes, thread, jewelry chain, kids crafts, etc.), I go to whichever store is closest to the area I'll be in that day. If I'm working on jewelry, I check both stores because the selections are different and the prices are about equal.
Hobby Lobby may have some better quality items, but you'll pay a lot more than what it's worth.
